WoW Forever Beta Build Adds Cooldown Manager, Cheap Respecs, Class Tweaks
Blizzard took the WoW: Forever beta offline on September 24, 2026 and returned with a build adding the Cooldown Manager, temporarily cheap talent respecs, and broad class changes. The update lets testers track abilities and experiment with builds more freely, though several features remain limited or buggy.
Cooldown Manager goes live for testing
Blizzard's Kaivax posted official development notes confirming the Cooldown Manager — a customizable overlay that pulls information from the buff bar and action bar — is now testable in the WoW: Forever beta, following a maintenance window that began at 19:50 UTC on September 24. It is disabled by default and must be turned on in Options under Gameplay Enhancement settings. Only Druid, Mage, Priest, Warrior, and Warlock are currently supported, with more classes planned later; spell ranks aren't yet tracked. Wowhead separately reported the feature, previously seen in Retail, is now available in the beta.
Respec costs temporarily slashed to 1 silver
Per Blizzard's official patch notes, talent respecs now cost just 1 silver for players who haven't recently changed their build. After a first reset, the price rises much higher but falls back to 1 silver once 1 hour has passed. Blizzard stated the pricing is temporary and specific to the beta only. Wowhead called the change "highly requested," noting it lets testers try out multiple talent builds without the usual gold cost getting in the way.
Wide-ranging class and race changes
Official notes list extensive adjustments. Feral's Mangle was renamed Primal Bite after its signature debuff was removed. Paladins got Holy Strike's cooldown cut to 10 seconds (from 12) with higher damage scaling, while Retribution's Vengeance now caps at 3 stacks (down from 5). Warrior's Slam cooldown rose to 18 seconds (from 15). Many Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Shaman, and Warlock spells were also tuned, including several fixed to correctly land critical strikes. Wowhead's coverage grouped these changes together with the Cooldown Manager and respec news.
Known issues updated after the build
Blizzard's Kaivax also published an updated known issues list for September 24. New entries include the Cooldown Manager failing to track Healthstone, Mana Gem, pet, and item-enhancement cooldowns, Arcane Blast being untrackable, and Priests tracking all spells by default. Blizzard warned that changing party composition may move players to a different world instance, with a fix promised soon. Two prior bugs — a fast-running Teldrassil NPC and excess XP from a Loch Modan quest — were marked resolved. Wowhead separately confirmed the known issues list was updated alongside the build.
