WoW: Forever Beta Gets Sept. 24 Build With Class Changes, New Cooldown Manager
Blizzard took the WoW: Forever Beta offline on September 24, 2026 and returned it with a large new build featuring class balance changes, a new Cooldown Manager tool, and cheaper talent respecs. The update also introduced fresh known issues, including a party-instance transfer bug Blizzard says it is actively working to fix.
Maintenance and Build Rollout
Blizzard's Kaivax announced beta maintenance beginning at 19:50 UTC on September 24 to deploy a new build, initially without an ETA. The build went live later that day, with full development notes posted at 22:23 UTC and an updated known issues list at 22:30 UTC. Two previously reported bugs were resolved: Sentinel Lynessa Duskblossom running too fast in Teldrassil's "Escaping Ban'ethil" quest, and the Loch Modan quest "Snowbound" granting excessive XP. This followed a smaller September 22 client update (Build 69977) that fixed Mac display issues and improved gamepad navigation.
Class and Item Changes
According to Blizzard's official patch notes, numerous specs received adjustments, including Fire Mage (Wake of Fire duration raised to 30 seconds), Holy Paladin (Holy Strike cooldown lowered to 10 seconds), and Retribution Paladin (Vengeance max stacks lowered to 3). Feral Druid's Mangle was renamed Primal Bite. Wowhead separately reported that the Gnome racial Eureka! was "heavily nerfed," now giving a flat 10% resource discount rather than its prior effect. Wizard Oils had spell power values reverted to Classic Era levels.
New Cooldown Manager and Cheaper Respecs
Blizzard's notes introduced a Cooldown Manager, a customizable UI feature disabled by default, currently testable for Druid, Mage, Priest, Warrior, and Warlock, with more classes planned; it does not yet support spell ranks. Wowhead confirmed on September 25 that the tool is now available for beta testing. Separately, Blizzard temporarily reduced the cost to reset talents to 1 silver for players who haven't recently respecced, a change Wowhead described as "highly requested"; costs rise after the first reset before dropping back to 1 silver after one hour.
Known Issues and Unconfirmed Datamining
Blizzard's updated known issues list flagged new bugs, including cooldown-tracking problems for Healthstones, Arcane Blast, mana gems, and pet abilities, plus a Stormwind minimap display issue and combo points missing from the Personal Resource Display. Most notably, Blizzard confirmed that creating or changing party composition may transfer players to a different world instance, and said improvements are coming. Separately, Wowhead reported on September 25 that datamining had revealed a potential new companion pet, a find not confirmed by Blizzard.
