World of Warcraft: Forever Reveals Skyborne Race and New Class Combinations
Blizzard detailed race and class options for World of Warcraft: Forever, including a new playable race called the Skyborne, ahead of the game's November 4, 2026 launch. The update also opens new race/class pairings such as Orc Mages and Undead Paladins, expanding how players can build characters.
Skyborne Debut as a Faction-Split New Race
Blizzard officially confirmed the Skyborne as a new playable race in World of Warcraft: Forever. On the Horde, Windshaper Skyborne can become Shaman; on the Alliance, High Order Skyborne can become Mages, with both variants also able to become Druids, Hunters, Rogues, and Warriors. Per Blizzard, Windshapers descend from shen'dorei high elves gifted elemental "skysight" and are called from Skywall, while the High Order descends from Highborne scholars of Eldre'Thalas returning to reclaim lost arcane knowledge. New Race and Class Combinations Across Both Factions
Blizzard confirmed several new race/class pairings coming with World of Warcraft: Forever, including Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests, and Dwarf Shamans. The game keeps its nine established classes — Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior — each retaining its existing role and abilities. Blizzard stated the expanded combinations, together with the Skyborne, are intended to give players more ways to build a character while helping "each race feel at home in this new era of adventure."
Existing Races Get Updated Racial Traits
Alongside the new options, Blizzard confirmed several existing races received updated racial traits to support the expanded class lineup. Examples include Orc's Axe Specialization (1% increased spell and ability critical chance), Human's Sword Specialization (2%), and Dwarf's Mace Specialization (1%). Blizzard said the adjustments are meant to "preserve the spirit of each race" while supporting the new combinations. The Skyborne's own traits include Walk on Air, a 10-second glide, and the passive Wind Blessed (1% increased Haste), shared by both Windshaper and High Order variants.
